New member hello

It's incredible how these branches are still in business with how many complaints they must receive. How much were the shrimp after all?
Oh you are testing my memory there ha! I really can't remember exactly but they were not cheap, I think around £15-£20 each so I'm very glad they have made it this long :)

Wow, you must have a lot of money! Getting just one drained me to be honest. Too much money spent on fish and I think I go into shock haha.

On no, we definitley do not have a lot of money LOL - quite the opposite to be honest but they were a one-off and very special so picked them up whilst we had the opportunity

Ahh, fair enough... Do you like plecos? Maybe you could save up for a snowball pleco one day. Special one-off treats like that make me happy.

Yeah absolutely! The tank is a little sparse at the moment fish wise so we have been thinking of some new additions, a Pleco being one of them. Just in the research stages at the minute - we always research A LOT before buying anything because we have been caught out in the past, but a Pleco is definitely on the cards I think. Apart from that we would keep to much smaller inhabitants because we much prefer the look of larger numbers of smaller fish than just one or two larger ones

Definitely be careful that you don't get a sailfin or common pleco on a whim. They get absolutely huge over their 10-15 year lifespan and are terrible at their "algae eating" jobs. If your algae problem is bad to the point where you "need" a pleco, just get otocinclus lol.

Would never buy anything on a whim anymore - I have learned that lesson lol

We do have some algae but unlike most people we tend to leave it alone because the fish seem to enjoy picking at it and our shrimp love it. I know it doesn't always look appealing but we keep our setup very natural looking anyway with real wood/rocks/plants and tannins to give a slightly darker effect, so the algae just blends in. Of course if it started to get out of control we would have to consider removing it, but it never seems to get that bad

Just back from my local PAH and for once saw no corpses. Bit rich of me tbh after the goings on in my tank recently. They’ve got plants in again, first time since early January.
Ours got rid of all their small pets (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, e.c.t) due to covid. Assuming it's because they don't want people going in just to look at the animals.

I was in my local one a week or so ago but only click and collect cat food so I didn't venture further than the checkout. I could still see the guinea pig/hamster/etc housing but not if there was anything inside it. And I could just make out the fish tanks in the distance.
