Hello forum!

I'm a newbie here so just thought I should introduce myself and say hi

We have a 4ft (240L) planted tropical set up, with current inhabitants being some neon tetras, pentazona barbs, guppies and some shrimp (there are around 20 fish in total and 4 large shrimp). I'm not sure what else to say really - I don't have any questions or specific reasons for joining, it just looked like a great forum full of information and I love fishkeeping so am always keen to pick up new ideas :)

Hi, welcome to the forum :hi:

We love fish and tank photos on the forum so if you have any to share, please do :)

Will definitely post pictures up, I'm still finding my way around at the moment (bit of a technophobe )

The shrimp are giant african fan shrimp and are actually the biggest things in the tank at present - they outsize all of the fish by some margin but they all seem to get along great

Use the “attach files” button right below your “reply” box. Once you do that, it will bring you up to all the photos on your device. Choose the one you want to upload and then wait for it to upload. After it does, you can choose between “thumbnail” (which is a small picture) and a “full image” which is much bigger and gives better detail)

It takes a while, but you’ll eventually get the hang of the forum. :)

Ooh, where did you get your hands on four of those? I've only got one since they're £20 each...

We actually saw them in PAH of all places (yes, yes, I know!!) But we've had them a good while now and they all seem happy, growing nicely and have good colour
Wow, Pets at Home?? Went yesterday to pick up a tank and some plants... Half of their stock was dead. Nearly cried. Goldfish eating each other, corys floating dead at the top, absolutely horrible. All I've got left from my initial stock from there are my bronze corys and a few tetras!
Glad that your shrimp are doing well!

I hear Pets@Home stores are terrible. I guess those are the equivalent of PetSmart/PetCo here in the USA. :(

Oh it really is. I wish I was joking when I said those fish were so hungry they were devouring their dead pals. It's absolutely rife with deformed, ill and straight-up half-dead fish at times.

I agree, we would never normally buy any livestock from there for all the reasons that PlasticGalaxy has given

We were in there buying some bits and pieces and just happened to spot them but this is going back a good while now. At the moment you can't get near any of the tanks due to the Covid restrictions, everything is taped off, so I dread to think what state they are in now :(

It's incredible how these branches are still in business with how many complaints they must receive. How much were the shrimp after all?
