new lights need help

I have all the fittings for normal house hold lights I went out and brought those new energy saver bulbs ( they are like a fluro light but all twisted up so it the size of a standard house light) I was wondering if any of you know how to wire these up through a switch and in to a plug so i can plug it in to a power board and just have the switch showing so i can turn lights on and off as i please

The switch goes on the hot wire. Just take an extension cord, cut off the female plug, strip a bit of the coating off, connect the hot wire (red or ribbed) to one side of the switch, then another wire coming off the other side of the switch and ends at the socket. The negative wire (black or white or smooth) just goes from the plug directly to the socket. HTH
