New Lighting = Algae... Sheesh

Hey jim,

Well all the algae is pretty much gone for now, cause i'm only working on 40W of light right now, (turned one light off) , i went down tot he LFS and got some supplies for the DIY co2, and my pop bottle of course, so all i need now is a check valve and a ladder, then i'm set. I know there are tons of receipes out there, but what do you guys use for pop bottle method. Thanks

hi mate. firstly i dont use a check valve. i found it slowed the co2 flow down too much (not a lot of pressure from a diy bottle). you can use one but bear this in mind if you are not getting enough bubbles.

for a 2 ltr pop bottle i's use 1.5 cups sugar, 1/2 tsp yeast and 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda. fill 2/3 full with water.

that should give you enough co2 output

Totally agree, it took me ages to work out what the problem was.
