just got a new L114, im very excited to add him to my collection. any ideas on what to feed him? i know that they like more meaty foods instead of alge wafers unlike my common.

Prawns, chopped mussels and the like.

You should offer some veg based foods as well.

Careful with meatier foods, they rot quicker than veg and can affect the water quality.

I have a younger 5 inch one Ive had a year or so and Ive previously had a 9 inch one, they are just about my favourite plec

Ive had no problem feeding mine they take the brine, mysis, discus mix that I feed the other fish in the tank prawns also and I also put courgette and potato in from time to time

They look stunning the bigger they get

yeah i put catcfish pellets and massivore pellets in

i put some omega 3 sinking shrimp pellets in there tonight. hopefully he will eat those. he has been hiding out in a log in the tank for the past 2 days, but he was out and about last night. by the way, i say "he" but truth be told, i dont know what sex it is.

tried giving him lobster row the other night, but its hard to tell if he ate any.

do you think a log or a cave is better? at the moment he is hiding in a med sized log in the tank, and hides all day, going to try and see if i can catch him up and about tonight. going to the LFS for food tommorrow as well, anything in particular i should buy if i can? brand names would be helpful.

Mine spends all his timei n a slate plec cave, assoon as food goes in he comes out but stays ithin 6 inches of the cave

ive been putting massivore tabs in, but again, i never see him eat, and in his new tank he seems to be even more elusive than before. the girl at the lfs keeps telling me that he is a veggitarian, but everything i have read points in the other direction. note: he is young, should i be giving him alge wafers too?

Mine does eat some fresh vegetables when I put it in the tank for my other Plecs.
But they are primarily carnivores - minced fish, prawn, bloodworm, sinking pellets etc

i feed the other fish my 29 (now 36 have to get some pics up)freeze dried blood worms but they dont exactly sink, although i put enough in so that they get sucked to the fillter intake i discoverd that my 9 inch common likes to suck them off. maybe ill try that with the L114, the fish in his tank love blood worms too. do fresh ones sink?
