I have a 3 ft tank which is about 10 months old. I have koi karp, gouramis, sucker cats in that. Three days back I introduced two knife fish. They seem to be scared. they are not eating. keep on hiding. I fear they will die. what can be the cause of this?

The koi should be in a pond as they need massive tanks.
Your overstocked, what are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

thanks for the reply. Actually I myself do not know these water stats. In India we do not get the kits for measuring these (or I am not aware what equipement is required for this). Is there a way I can measure this in 'do it yourself way'. Please advise.

you need to research your fish a little better before uying them, all the info you need can be found from the internet

koi carp are cold water fish and need large ponds

gourami's are tropicals and require warmer water

'sucker cats' can be one of a number of things and could be tropical, sub-tropical or coldwater, and could potentially grow up to 24" long

the knife fish will be tropical and also some species can reach 24"

keeping fish in the wrong temperature water can cause all sorts of long term health problems so you need to resolve this and get the fish in the correct environments, this will probably mean re-homing some of them.
