I am now the proud owner of a pair of Jack Dempsey.....such an attractive fish, and something i have not kept before. II just love em already, they are starting to colour up nicely now w they are settling in. They are currently hunting feeder shrimp and having a fun time doing it lol

I will grab a pic of them tonight

Always loved those cichlids so much personality. Can't wait for pics :)

Jack and Demi are nervous and shy.....i've been messing with their tank. I added in the fake plants hoping it would make them feel more comfortable, but not happened yet lol

nice fish, nice tank :D Hope they settle in soon :)

They are very cute. And I'm sure they will soon live up to there reputation and be little terrors lol.

Thanks :)

RR - I hope so, i miss that individuality that the bigger cichlids have....

They are very personable fish with serious personalities all there own.

I think i'll go pick up some feeder fish today....this might make them feel a bit more at home

I did notice this morning they have sorta dug a pit in the cave area.....Jack is being shimmying along side demi and nudging her around. Surely they couldnt be looking to breed already??

If they are old enough to breed they will breed almost constantly so I'd say right off hand if they have dug a hole and are acting like that you may have some fry in the near future.

when I got my Rio 240 and moved all my fish into it from the Rio 180 my curviceps cichlids celebrated by spawning the following day! I was shocked. I thought the stress of moving would do the opposite and stop them from spawning until they settled in!

If they're digging pits I'd say they're thinking about it too :)

I just emptied and rescaped the tank, i wanted to change the substrate to a brown sand, all the fake plants are also gone, for now at least. I have added some wood with anubias in there. Currently Jack and Demi are not happy with me lol

The JD's have moved to a different tank, and this tank has some beautiful new residents.

The stupid canister though is being a pain, it has decided to leak like a sod and it is doing my head in! I will have another look at it today and see if i can get it to behave!

where is the canister leaking from? Could it be that some of the new sand has got into it and is stopping it sealing properly?
