Hey guys, just joined!

Felt I should as I am starting to get pretty serious about fish!

I currently have a 6-month established 31Ltr tank (small i know, gotta start somewhere?) with 2 Guppies, a Zebra Danio, Clown Loach (my favorite), Female Bristlenose Pleco, and 2 Ghost shrimp.

Iv since had the urge to buy all the worlds supply of tropical fish (Apparently that happens?) and to have a big shoal of Clown Loaches [as mine seems to be daft as a brush, im hoping there all like that!]

This weekend I brought a nice 9 month old Fluval Vicenza 180 for a bargain price! (as it's light unit does not work) Plus the matching stand and a Fluval 3Plus.

So yeh... You'll probably hear me ask some stupid/simple questions over the next month while I set this up!

Thanks guys :D

Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy it here!
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if that is 180 liters then it is not going to be good for the clown loaches, long term anyways.
Have any pics of your current set up? :)

Welcome to the forum, Crimson!

You've come to the right place for suggestions and advice and yes, unfortunately I agree wholeheartedly with Ninjouzata - the Clown Loach, (who do well in groups) just won't fit in a 180...they can grow to 16" long and get chunky so you'd need a very very large tank for them...sorry.

How did you go about cycling and what are your water params so far?

Pics would be good to get a look at your tank!

Hey guys, thanks!

Yeh im starting to realize that now... I was thinking of kidding myself by buying small ones and getting a bigger tank in a years time? Hey ho either way... But I at least need to move my current Clown Loach and  maybe get him a few friends :S
(Stupidly brought him without any research, altho he seems perfectly happy)

I have not started with the 180 yet, getting the soil, sand, and gravel tonight (having 1/3 of the tank sand and the rest gravel). Then filling and planting this weekend to start the fishless cycle.

Will get pics of my current tank when I get home.

Everyone makes mistakes. :)
Hopefully someone else can say if they'll be alright for a year, I've no idea on their growth rate.
Looking forward to the pics!

Welcome, I love clown loaches too. I currently have 5 they are crazy critters :)

Sorry guys been a bit slow with uploading pics, will do it tonight.

Also will be doing an aquascaping/progression thread on my new 200 liter (got it wrong to start with) tank.
