Hi I am new here in the forums. For the past few months after all my cichlids died (I think a few reasons why my cichlids died because of 1.Lack of Space (Only have a 5 gallon tank and I owned 10 cichlids which is like torture to them) 2. Aggressiveness of bigger cichlids because of territory war and 3. Mating problems) I have now again took care of fishes which are the fast breeders: The Guppies. I bought 4 fancy tails (2 females and 2 males). One died today (Oct. 15, 2013) which is a female. The two males look kinda lazy and they always stay in a single area which worries me because this morning one male was bobbing up and down and sometimes has its belly side up which worries me more for it shows its gonna die (NO!!!!) But after I left this morning for a group project returned home at afternoon my brother said a very bad news to me which you know from the start if you are reading. The remaining female looks active and it at the middle of the tank. I am a little confused if it is pregnant or not for I only have kept these guppies for 2 days. It had the dark spot on its belly but its stomach is not that large yet. For now I am still keeping them in a 1 gallon tank (IDK if its 1 gallon or less for I only know for sure it is small) and planning to put them in my 5 gallon tank which I am still cleaning after a few months I have kept it in storage which for few months it was filled with rain water and leaves.

For now I do not know if it is ok for my Guppies to be transferred again because I think they are stressed out for my little sister keeps on tapping the glass and scaring them off and literally keeps on putting her hand in the water and rearranging the decorations in it. Also I am scared if another death of my Guppies. What should I do or when may I transfer my Guppies. Thanks.

P.S. Are hermit crabs passive to Guppies? I own 2 hermit crabs though

The reason your cichlids died is because just ONE of those fish requires 50+ gallons, most of them far more.  Putting 10 cichlids into a 5 gallon tank might be the craziest stocking option I have ever heard!!

Yea 1 gallon is not suitable for any kind of fish that I know of, get them out of whatever you have them in IMMEDIATELY and into the 5 gallon.   Most guppy breeders and keepers won't recommend housing them in a 5 gallon either, but it is far more suitable than what you have them in.

How do you even fit 10 cichlids into a 5 gallon?!

Loving the Bidoof reference though.
I bought this poster the other day;

Playing X as we speak :D

I've got 7 cichlids in a 50 gal and debating if I should add a couple more lol.

If you can, I'd take the guppies back and then do a fishless cycle on your 5g, and get a stocking list from the members here to make sure you don't have these problems again.
On a side note, jealous of Sophie because I don't get my 3DS til christmas.. :p
