Hi all. Thought i'd say hello & tell you what i've got. Well i have a Jewel Rio 400 with cabinet which i got from my old works FREE with fish. They closed down & i had 1st refusal on the coldwater set up & one of the others got the the tropical. Anyhow it came with 8 large goldfish, a mix of fancy, common & a VERY large shubunkin. All was good & we added a black moore (good luck to have 8 + a black moore) to it. Well our inexperience killed all bar 2 because i changed too many filter sponges at once because they hadn't been changed by my works for around 6 yrs. As soon as we realised our mistake we put the original sponges back but this did nothing as one by one they died a slow death. The last 2 got through it & they were together for around 2 months when one more died.
We then waited a few months to to see how the last remaining fish would be & eventualy we decided it was safe to start adding fish again as 400 litres is a bit lonely for one fish & he had developed a very close bond with the other one & he appeared to be moorning (if this is possible?). We now have 6 in total & they are just great. We done our research, watched videos etc to understand how to do it properly. They are just so lively & have grown loads over the last 6 months. We're in the process of trial & error with plants as in learning which ones they love to eat. It's great to watch them have there own favourite spot in the tank & see them go mad for blood worms (definately there favourite live/frozen). Well that's our fish story & here's a recent pic of them.
