Hey, Just wanted to say Hi, I am new LOL, Duhh, as if yuo never knew....... Well, I have have had a 20 gal tank for about 5 years now. Took a break when we moved for 2 years and am now getting back into Aquatica. At present in the tank I have 3 Goldfish( for my Brother in law, he's 10), 4 Neon Tetra, and 8 other Tetra's that I am unsure of what the exactly are. Just got the 12 Tetra's today. As well as one Tiger Baarb. Was 3 barbs, but 2 dies after a water change. I never watched PH or anyting, My bad. Just wired up some LED lights to a variable resistor fro a Moonlight, as per one thread on here. I had 4 UV Cold Cathodes on before, trying to get the fish to glow more, but all it seemed to do is highlight the white stuff in the water. (looked crystal clean without the UV lights on) heres some pics

I am starting a build of a 100 gal tank. making a partition wall between the dining room and living room. Tank will be the wall. Want a SW FO or FOWLR tank, but not sure if I am ready for it?? Hope you all can steer me in the right direction. There is not much for SW stuff here at the LFS, has to be ordered in.

:hi: to the forum :)

good luck with your new set ups.

I dont think keeping Goldfish (coldwater fish) and neon tetras (tropical fish) together is a good idea. but maybe someone else on here will have a differnent idea

Welcome to the forum! ^_^

kewskills is correct that Goldfish really should not be kept with tropicals. For one, goldfish are Temperate water fish, so although they can survive in the warmer temps of a tropical tank, it's really not healthy for them in the long term. Next, the metabolism of a goldfish is much higher than those of tropical fish (which means they produce a lot more ammonia) and the warmer the tank, the harder their metabolisms work! This is one of the reasons that goldfish need a lot of gallons (about 15) per fish...they are that messy! Next there is a dietary problem. Goldfish have different dietary needs than tropical fish, and tropical fish food is not very healthy for goldfish. Lastly...goldfish get big, and could potentially eat your tetras in the future. Sorry if I'm being a kill joy. T_T

Ohh, Ya I know about the Goldfish, I am moving them soon. Only keeping them for my little Brother in law till his mom gets him a tank, which should be real soon
