do you put the tube directly against the white card next to color bar or just off the paper?

after test added cap full of prime to treat 50 gal

i used dip strip and it looked way better than this test.

Strips are notorious for being very inaccurate and liquid kits are much better. You put it on the white part of the card. You'll need to be doing very large water changes (in excess of 30 gallons) daily or at least every other day until your through with the cycle.

You should test before and I usually wait about 3 hours after before I test again.

Is this a good sign starting to see progress? or is it possibly just the prime doing its job? do levels creep back up when prime wears off? or is prime something that doesnt wear off?

The larger yellow Cichlid keeps chasing and nipping at the smaller yellow one. Have seen some people say get more of the same color to spread out the bullying . others say it is what it is.

What about some small sacrifice fish?
