New Guppies! Xxxxx

You have to give time for people to come on. Over here on the east coast of America its only 10 AM! Anyway tht does look like a slight gravid spot on your guppies. But the gravid spot doesn't mean that they are necessarily pregnant. I have a swordtail that has a huge gravid spot but isn't pregnant right now.

im sorry guess im impatient
so the gravid spot shows even when its not pregnant. oh i didnt know that k thanks.

Their very thin!!! they are not pregnant and far from it.

Feed them plenty of live foods and keep up with water changes, once their fatter they will then produce good eggs for breeding, thut while their thin they will not produce eggs.

This is common with new fish as some shops under feed to keep costs down.

ok all i feed them is grain food whoops!
what kind of live foods do they eat?

blood worm, daphina, brine smrimp.
both frozen and live is good.

okies thankyou no wonder they are ALWAYS hungry  feel so bad not feeding them properly

Getting dizzy going bewteen the 2 posts LOL

Feed a small pintch 2-3 times a day, all food should be eaten with in 2-3 mins and anyleft floating or on the bottom may go to wast, and polluate the water.

If u feed once a day then give them just a little more and make sure all the food is eaten though.

sorry about the 2 posts i just thought it might get confusing on one lol
ok thankyou

I think i need to change the water again soon :)

quite often many problem can be linked back to a singel error, but you on the right road now and befor long you be complaining you got to many guppies ;)

 well that is the problem isnt it!

i luv all the people on this forum there really helpful thanks you guys ur better than books

by the look of it this pic it does'nt really determine if they are pregnant or not, it is quite common for females to have this spot anyway as it is one of the ways to determine its sex
the good news is that they are in with males and male guppy are always at it and theres no chance of the females saying no.

you need to give them atleast another week to observe the swelling and gravid spot getting bigger and darker, when this happens they will be pregnant

when people first get female guppies the urge to know if they are pergnant is really high, due to the fact that they breed so quick and are easy to raise from fry

lovely photos by the way

I bought 5 females and 2 blue males about a month ago, and thought that all the girls were pregnant.
after reading that that they give birth every three to four weeks I now know that they werent.
But they realy are now getting very fat and the spot is very large and black the bodies have doubled in width.
I feed a very small amount of tropical flake daily, and then a different extra each day of either tubifex, small soaked pellets and brine shrimp they love any of these. :good:
