New Girl!

I disagree. I would watch the fish for some time and make sure no one is being bullied. The only thing with keeping two in a 1.5 gallon is you would absolutely have to be religious about water changes. If it were me, and I did get another female, I would just do so when I had a few hours to sit and watch them for a while. Maybe some hiding places are in order; like a rock structure. I know my females absolutely love swimming in and out of their little caves.

I've seen such vast differences in personalities among these fish that I would say it's strictly based on your fish's temperament.

Males may have "egg spots" which are really a bit of protruding rectum.. but mlaes NEVER have egg cases.
In many females, even darker bodied ones, you can see a light triangluar shape in their belly, with a long point toards the rear of the body.
Even though your girl is a darker fish, it can been seen in the second picture.
Sometimes, though it is very hard to see in darker females.

I wouldn't keep just two girls together no matter what the tank size (well maybe if it was REALLY big). With females you need a pretty decent sized group to spread out the aggression. And you definitely can't do that in a 1.5 gallon. She'd be much happier all by herself. Bettas are solo fish. People think they look lonely and need company. But they really don't. They're much happier by themselves. Not saying that putting them together doesn't sometimes work out...but if they had to choose, they'd be all alone. I have a sorority of females. I had 11 in a 25 gallon and everything was fine until just a couple days ago. I found 2 girls laying on the bottom. Apparently they beat the tar out of each other. So they are being treating in their own little tanks. I honestly can't tell from the pic if your fish is male or female. At first I thought male, but it could be female. Sometimes it's real hard to tell. I bought a yellow halfmoon female that has turned into a yellow super delta male!!

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone! I'm going to stay with one female, then. Thanks for being so nice in explaining it to me! :)

I guess she's an eggie? The white on the bottom is very VERY pronounced. When I first got her, I thought maybe she was pooping white, but then I got a second look and went, "Wait..." then looked at my sister's betta femals (she has 5 bettas) and they had the same thing.

There are lots of hiding places in her tank! The tank already had rocks (base pebbles on the bottom along with large, smooth river rocks sold at the store) and plants in it but I bought her something extra when I got her yesterday. She now has an awesome "rock" structure with hiding places and holes to swim in and out of. She seems to really enjoy it! :) She's an adventurous one, but seems a little shy around people.

Oh don't worry, she'll warm up to you once she realizes you're the bringer of food lol.

i agree she will love u lots soon enough "O great food bringer from the sky" :)
