Hello again.....i have a 15 gallon that im just about to do up and was wondering wheter i could house some cichlids in it? If so any suggestions would be grateful, i only want a few or maby even just a species tank, so any that would fit in there please let me know...or wheter it is actually possible or not..also i was thinking of switching this tank to sand...but how do u clean it???

I would say your tank isn't really big enough for those type of fish, you can use a gravel vack with sand.

You will have to look through them for the right tank size, I wouldn't get more than 2 and maybe add something else, some more experienced fish people will be along to help you out, good luck.

also look into shelldwellers from Lake Tanganyikan . Very small and interesting Cichs.

you could have maybe a pair of rams in there... theyre a nice dwarf cichlid

i think you can fit several dwarf ciclids in a tank that size (rams, keyholes, ect.). I have an 18 gal which is isnt much bigger but i have a pair of Yellow Labs and a few other simmilar sized ciclids in that tank i think you might be able to too.

if you get american cichlids, only get a pair of 2 (male and female) dwarfs

african cichlids tend to be overstocked so you could keep more of those but then again, a 15 gallon is quite small for african.

I have 2 german blue rams in a 20 gallon with female bettas and all is good. You could have a similar setup in a 15

thanks for the replys some interesting ideas....ill have a think and then decide..but if ne 1 has any more ideas please let me know! the thing is though i already have one fish in there...a garra..and he's a bit nasty so something tuff...who will take no crap would be good...althou i think its the fish he is with now that he doesnt like...long story short. he should be alrite with cichlids cos he comes from the wild living with them and hippos! confused lol well nm!
