New Fishless Cycle Concerns And Slime!

It is soo hard! In the mean time I'm making a table so I can cross reference different species of fish that I like and see if they are compatible with each other and with the water. I have columns such as Name of fish, PH, Temperature, Min Group (for shoaling ones), Length. It may seem a bit pointless but I find it quite fun to do things like this! And it allows me to rule out fish straight away and move others to the top of the list!

Anything you can do to pass the time and get yourself to a good decision for stocking is a good thing!

Hi Mervin,

I did a table too lol. I also had a column for whether the fish is top, middle or bottom dwelling. How sad. :)

I'm going to have a go at cleaning the white stuff off my wood tonight and will also be attaching some java moss to a part of the wood.

Will keep you updated on my slime.

David

Right, removed wood, cleaned it best I could in a bucket if tank water. It's hard to see the stuff when it's out of water. I got a bit in my hand and it smells like mushrooms so definitely a fungus of some kind.

Glued my new java moss to a nice flat part of the wood. It's stuck good but now that I put it in the water I can see I've used too much glue as it shows up white underneath the moss. Hopefully it will grow to the point I can't see it anymore.

Can't see any fungus on the wood anymore but time will tell. There are lots of dusty particles in the water now.

David.

Did you use "super glue"?  The white is annoying to me too.  That's why I started just tying things on with a bit of sewing thread.  The color is chosen to match the color of whatever I am tying the plant onto.  For slate, I use grey.  For wood, brown.  Its far less noticeable.

Yeh, super glue. With the cryowotsit. I considered tying but wasn't sure I'd get a good result. Seeing the glue, next time I may try tying. Do you think the java miss will grow over the glue and disguise it?

Tank water is nice an clear again thankfully.

Hope so bc I was very heavy handed with my glue as well. Its a little less noticeable a month later, so either Im just used to it or the java roots are spreading over it

Java moss should cover it fairly thickly, eventually.
