Do you realise your mixing brackish and freshwater fish there ???? That is some serious mixing and matching there, did the shop not ask if you had both brackish and FW tanks ???? Also it is not a good idea to add that many fish to a tank all at once, better lay off feeding them for a few days so the filter can catch up with the new load.

 Wow, those fish are kick arse!!!! Don't take them back, let them experance it first for all we know they may be fine :) But CFC brings up excellent points which worry me about your fish surviving... -_-

which fish are brackish fish???

ive also got 2 huge filters in the 1 big tank so they wont be overloaded

oh....and all the fish ive got are small.....really really small infact so i dont think that the load will be much.....but like ive said theres 2 big big filters in the tank so i dont think there will be a problem

Spotted and figure 8 puffers are brackish fish, only young ones are found in FW and they need brackish water as they mature.

It dosent matter how big your filters are, they can still only hold as much bacteria as there is waste in the water and needs to build its self up each time a new fish is added.

BTW how big is this "big" tank ??? That ghost knife is gonna grow huge and is going to need a 90g tank to live to its full potential.

well according to fishprofiles.com they arent brackish at all.....infact they say that these fish are not brackish as told to me by 1 of my lfs......who has 30 yrs experience and also double checks everything in a fish encyclopedia

links to the profiles are below

spotted puffer

figure 8 puffer

'my' big tank is my 180 litre which is fine for my ghost fish til i get my rio 400 next time i get paid.....so unless he's gonna grow 18 inches in the next 4 weeks i think he'll be fine in my big tank

Tek :fish:

Well all the ones ive ever seen have been in brackish water and most info ive read say they are better kept in brackish but believe what you want.
The 400 is a good size tank, look forward to seeing some pics once youve got it set up,oh and keep a eye on those puffers, they can be nippy little so and so's and BGK's are very delicate. ;)

im not believin what i want....im believin what im told by a very experienced fish keeper and fish shop owner n what im reading from a good source of info from the internet which was passed onto me by members of this forum

i'll take pics of the tank when i get it...but i might need to take a few pics at certain points of the tank and stick the foto graphs together as it'll be that long

CFC is very inteligent when it comes to his posts about fish but you can't always be right. (likes to debate) "me" The facts we have in front of us have been broughten up by "tekniks" he's proven that these fish are not brackish fish, or at least the "website information" including this guy he knows who has experience 30 years. I've given wrong information before based on website, but the website looked a little corny and was nothing but about live bearers ranging from plattie, mollie, guppy, swordfish. Though I have no clue about bracking fish, I trusted CFC with this information " SO IM NOT CONTRADICTING MYSELF " That was towards the ones who like to debate to ... CFC I still trust your information you've provided despite the facts that were given today. He has proven that these fish can still live in brackish conditions. Ty CFC for being a good person and trying to help someone out " your intentions were there " and so was your information. B)
