omigod i got new fish! :D 4 julii cories! they are so so cute. although i am a little worried about one of them who doesnt have much of a tail and his dorsal fin has a smallish chunk out of it. hes not quite as active as the others. ah well, i'll see how he goes. i'll post piccies as soon as i get some.

edit: just saw the little tail-less one swimming around. i have a feeling he'll be alright :)

Hi -cAtFiSh- :)

It's possible that your fish's damaged tail and fin could be due to aggressive tank mates at some point, but it is more likely that has been caused by a bacterial infection. This is not unusual due to the stresses involved in the shipping process.

Fresh water and a clean environment will do much to help him, but do watch him carefully to be sure it heals. A little MelaFix in the water won't hurt either and might help.

If you see it getting worse, immediately get medication for bacterial infection. Finrot can move quickly or slowly, so it's best to be aware and on the look out for problems.

thank you for the advice :) . i put some Melafix in the water as soon as i released the fish so hopefully that will solve the problem
