at the moment i currently have a fluval U2 which i really havent liked from the beginning as i think it has flaws and also the output just doesnt seem powerful enough.

can anyone suggest an internal underwater filter which has a good output suitable for a 60 litre tank?

if i cant find anything i might just have to purchase a U3 to up the output.

thanks in advance!

A fluval U3 is an overkill for a 60litre tank and I wouldn't see why you would want to stick to the same product line if you have found the Fluval u2 is useless.

I have a fluval u2 and find it brilliant, so brilliant I even ordered a fluval 1 for my smaller tank.

For a 60 litre it is perfect, perhaps you have it set up incorrectly, I sometimes find the output a little too powerful at times.

Perhaps you need to clean the pads or re arrange the ceramic media incase it has fallen into a odd shape.

Thanks for coming back to me. I was worried that a U3 would be overkill on a 60 litre which is why i thought id ask first.

My sponges get a squeezing every other week doing 1 side at a time. I dont use the black & white parts as when i use them i find the output drops too much.

Im going to try putting in extra sponges tomorrow see how i get on with them.

Hmm... how long have you had the filter for? There is no noticeable difference in output when I put the Poly/Carbon inserts in.

Perhaps the impeller has gunked up. Have you taken it apart to clean it?

Finally, I don't want to sound like I'm trying to make you out like an idiot but you have taken the ceramic media out of the plastic packaging? Haha I have heard someone not doing that on this forum before so it can happen!

I actually removed all the filter media, and jetwashed my filter casing and impellor so it is definateky not gunked up.

LOL and ive definately taken them out the package, its the first thing i noticed and wondered the very same thing about everyone else.

i do notice a lot of small bits floating around that never seem to get sucked up, you reckon i should try the poly/carbon inserts again???

Haha I had to make sure you did do it though! Did you remove the impeller though and clean around it? Also our perception of output may be way different. The Poly/Carbon won't help suck up more dirt if you're filter doesn't have much "suction".

Your filter is actually jetting water out though correct? and have you tried all 3 outputs?

Yes the impellor came out and slime got cleaned out.

I just constantly see small bits floating around my tank-I think I'm going to have to get poly/carbon again and try that.
