Hi all
So im looking on the internet now for a new filter, as in a previous thread i was told the filter i have now (elite stingray) isn't ideal.
Just needing some help to find the correct filter for my 60l tank.

Thanks in advance

Kieran

it all depends on the stock realy..

what fish do you have?

i have a stingray filter.

and it's perfect on my tank.. :S i dont know why people sayits crap.. i think its OK To be honest.

Well atm i only have 7 neon tetras in, with a couple of plants for my fish-in cycle. Im planning on having danio's, platy's and maybe a small ctafish. Haven't really decided yet, just going with the flow haha

Do you think its suitable for what im wanting then?

Thanks

If you want to breed platy's

its

1 Male - 3 Females.

Small catfish..

Hm,
Bristlenose?

There fairly nice

so this is what your looking to have then?

1x Catfish
7x Neon tetra's
7x Danios ( VERY VERY ACTIVE fish )
4x Platy's

Yep..

Sounds like good stocking.

Dont change the filter unless you KNOW that its not what you expected.

imo the best internal you can buy for a 60l is the Fluval U2. I have one in my 60l (which had a stingray before), and you'll know the difference. The water is much more clearer and they hold more biomedia, which is always a good thing. They also have a spraybar, bottom flow valve and a venturi at the top, to give you a consistant air flow through your tank.

Bristles Grow up to 5 inch's??

Something like that

and I Like Sebria Danios Very active and beutiful fish.

Never seen a zebra danio in my life.

Well proberly have. but hav'nt had much intrest :p

If your getting platys.

Make sure there in good health etc.

Look out for Pure red ones.

they look the best.

just remember to run them side buy side for a few weeks, so the new filter can biuld up its own biological flitration level. How long have you been cycling you tank?

Im coming to the end of my first week fish-in cycle. It seems to be going fine. PH started at 7 and has now gone to 8. Im keeping ammonia at .25 at the most by doing daily water changes.

Neons arnnt a great "Fishin-cycle" fish..

Guppys / mollys / platy's are though... but im not a cycle expert.

Get told so many different things :( haha

Uh, I'm new here too but 60l is roughly 15 US gallons, right? Isn't that a bit small for a 5 inch catfish? Most catfish are pretty active. I myself have 5 otocinclus cats in a 10 gallon, which I think is a bit small for them just because of how active they are in my tank and they're only 2 inches. I also recently got a new filter and it's much better. The flows really stronger then the last one was, which died on me anyway (it also came with the tank so...) and it has more filtration then just a single charcoal screen.

EDIT: It's an Aqua-Tech Power Filter. I'm in the US :p

hello saracirce and Welcome :p

60l IS infact 13 gallons. So yep. It is near enough 15 gallons.

Yea... But Bristlenose Plec's Dont grow very quick from what i heard.

And Im sure Badbadger will upgrade now he's on TFF.

i Thought i was gunna be stick with the same tank for age's! Since i joined TFF All i've wanted is New fish tanks.
