I have a Juwel Rio 125 with Saulosi Mbunas, as they're messy fish I upgraded my U3 internal filter to an Eheim 2215 external. At the moment I am running both filters until the new one is ready to go alone. However, the flow rate seems pretty high (knew this would be the case) but it's causing a lot of small/micro bubbles in the water which is very unsightly. I don't think there is an air block/leak anywhere, the intake/out tubes look clear of bubbles as does the canister as far as I can see. I primed it properly before switching on, and have rocked the canister around to try and displace any bubbles. Do these images below look normal for a smaller tank with higher flow filter, or are there too many bubbles?

Doesn't it have something you can adjust the flow rate with?

I have a Fluval FX6 running on my Roma 200 without a problem as I can turn it down so it doesn't blow everything away :p

Not on this filter :( I guess I could drill the holes in the spray bar to make them bigger? That should keep the same rate of flow but reduce the pressure into the tank?

I've made the holes a bit bigger and played around with the spray bar angle, does seem to have made a difference but not yet ideal. I guess it's a case of playing around with it to find the perfect set up!

My Aquamanta EFX did the same when I first set it up. If you have a lot of sponge as media or the cotton wool type stuff it takes a while for all the air to be dislodged. It will clear up after a while. Mine did anyway.

Cheers, yes a lot of sponge in there and only 2-3 layers of wool at the top. Hopefully it'll die down then as after enlarging the spray bar holes there are still too many fine bubbles for my liking :(
