Hi all, can anyone help with a few niggly problems?
New external filter - eheim 2026 doesn't fit in my tank without the lid sticking up. the in/out? pipe has a sort of u bend that lets it bend out of the top of tank but this doesn't rest low enough as the bottom of the filter is resting on the gravel (& dont think my gravel is too deep - about 7cm at back).

Also the spray pipe is too long for it to stick across the side of tank (juwel 180l)so i have it at the back but this gets in the way of the other pipe. Has anyone had same problems. i wondered about cutting the spray bar shorter but I bottled it as filter is brand new.

Put the intake at an angle, it doesn't have to be perfectly vertical to work properly. Mount the spray bar vertically as well, the flow on the bottom will help keep it free of debris.

I'm sure I've read this wrong but if it's an external filter (it's the same one as mine except I've got the thermo) why have you put it 'inside' your tank?????

You can cut the intake pipe shorter, so it fits your tank, not all tanks are the same depth.
Good idea about having the spray bar vertical Tolak, hadn't thought of that, will it affect the oxygen levels going into the water.

Cheffi. I read it that way as well , thought it must be me (the hot weather).

Yep its the hot weather (thats a good excuse :D )- i worded that badly. I meant the pipes dont fit in my tank without lid sticking up. Just read post again - yes very bad - could've been the lovely chilled wine cooling me down that night. :fun:

I've got the 2026 on both my Juwel 180's - had exactly the same problem with the lid, so bought (yes, even more money!) the Eheim (intake/outlet) installation sets from Charterhouse Aquatics (http://www.charterhouse-aquatics.co.uk/catalog/eheim-installation-sets-p-331.html) - bonus also as they're black/grey so blend into the tanks perfectly, and they come in 10cm sections so you can have as long or short as you like. Have put the intake on one side of the tank and the outlet on the other, so the lids now shut perfectly.

The spray bar is still slightly too long, but only slightly now, haven't needed to cut it down like the old green one, but that's a fantastic idea Tolak's given, might give that a go this weekend (thanks).

Kim :)
