new females..

ahs alrights - glad my eyes arent playing tricks on me
sounds like there is the possibility of an interesting match  i'd love to see their babies. next time i see a mustard gas im gonna snag it for sure, they are so neat.
congrats again on the new gals and best of luck with them

thanks :) .. yea this is the first time ive seen a MG at a lfs.. this one is great tho.. they get their bettas from somewhere good.. and only $3 CDN each.. i go every few months when they get their shipments in.. i was surprised to find the silver ones too.. there was a sibling male, that had some copper on it, but $9 was too much for me to spend, he was small, and would take months to be ready to breed, so i passed

Now now, don't bring me into this.

I can't tell for sure about this fish, and I won't be able to unless I see a good clear pic of the fish. Soooo let's not jump to conclusions, she very well may be a MG, and all we can do until a better pic is believe nibbles.

And play nice ok? Let's not assume here either, we know he's defensive about MGs. :p

Psh whatever! think whatever ya want. Julie also says that its prolly a chocolate female not a mustard gas! and imo mustard gasses are at least supposed to be at least like 30% blue and 70% yellow or 70%blue and 30% yellow just somewhere around there think what you want!

EDIT~Oops! lol sorry julie! posted at the same time as ya!

im 100% positive its a MG.. now ur making me wanna go get a good pic to prove that little  that its a MG

30% blue and 70% yellow would not be a mustard gas.

okay! take a pic! I'm just saying that imho that it doesnt really look like a MG to me.... >=) maybe im wrong! maybe im not! =)! and yes julie! we all know that I'm very defensive of MGs! lol :p

what a great deal!
where is this lfs?? *fingers crossed that its somewhere in the toronto area*

the chain is called Mr. Pets.. we have 2 within 30 kms of each other... one gets lots of nice bettas in, the other gets 0... they are privately owned, so i guess that has something to do with it.. but no, not in toronto, B.C.

well.. i know MGs and I think she's not a mg! yes I know she's a girl! but not an mg :p and maui, the lfs is in vancouver so sorry.... :/ :-(

 if thres no blue in the female and she's yellow then she's not a mustasrd gas! hahahhah
Seriously, you need to stop thinking you know what your talking about. :p

A bit of a hint. Put the aquarium light on, or a light over the tank, turn the flash off, and wait for nighttime to take pictures. Works MUCH better.

shucks! ah well
well i hope its still around when i move out there in... erm.... 1,2..4 years lol :p

Sorry Gp just proving my point that a 100% yellow betta doesnt make a mustard gas

its night-time, the tank has no light, but i put the flash on... without the flash theyll come out horrible... i could always shine a flashlight on them and take pics without the flash, but my sister is in the room, and will wonder wtf im doing with her camera taking pics of my fish with a flashlight.. maybe in 15 mins ill go see what i can do.. ill also have to find new batteries..

shes def a MG tho.. ive heard enough of betta lova to last me a lifetime

BETTA LOVA JUST QUIT WHILE YOUR AHEAD AND STOP POSTING..

YOU ARE STILL LOOKING AT THE WRONG FISH

colorgenics

"The Mustard gas was created by Jude Als (Unkle Junkin). The original Mustard gas bettas had a solid blue/greenish body and yellow fins. Because this line bred true Jude Als thought of this strain name, but actually there not more then bicolor fishes. nowadays, the term mustard gas is a very plastic term. The pattern of the colors of the different MGs differs from fish to fish. Some fishes also have blue/green/black edges around their fins while others lack these features. Most of the "modern" Mustard don't even come close to the original of Jude Als.
Because of these controversy, on shows, mustard gas bettas are classified into the bicolored class."

look at the pics of mustard gas and you will see that the term "mustard gas" is indeed a "plastic term". there are some breeders that think that anyone other than uncle junkin (or anyone who recieved his fish) using the term "mustard gas" is dishonest. some breeders like marianne will no longer "name" their lines as it's all pretty much a crock anyways. of course some people will still name their lines whatever they want and personally, i think it's alright to describe these colour variations as "mustard gas" as everyone knows right away what they look like.
:p
