Thanks for the advice guys, went to my lfs and brought a fluval 205, was looking for an xp2 or fluval 305 but couldnt really afford either. Stupidly cut one of the wires a bit short but i think it is fine for now. Just going to run them alongside each other for a while and then when I take out the internal ill scrub the media next to the new filter. I brought some loaches =S, I knew I shouldn't but they were so cute and apparently extinct in the wild so I couldn't resist! Think they are called Dwarf loaches.

i think they maybe, they had there scientific name on the tank. So not too sure but I believe they are.
