New Dwarf Cichlid

Hi,

This is my first mail on this forum......just a beginner eh. ....It's definetly an Apistogramma Species "Steel Blue" and the females look completely different, usually yellowish in colour turning bright yellow when in spawning condition. We have some of these in our area too, but only males are presently available. Don't be tricked by any fish shop "trying to tell you that females are similar or just a bit smaller than the males they have in the shop" when you see a female for real its's completely different but similar to all other femaels in the apistogramma genus.

Hope you get hooked on these fascinating fish like me :D

It's funny you mention that . I bought 2 males about 4 years ago . And no females to be seen in the store , or any other I looked in . Only in books have I seen them . Like most apisto females . very plain looking .

Its difficult to say without a better picture but from the head shape i believe it is most probably one of the Laetacara species.
