As mentioned on a previous post I have 6 Bolivian Rams (4 females & 2 males) in a 300 litre tank as part of a community set up.

Anyhow, a pair had bonded, but what I have only just noticed is that one other male is also courting the female in the same fashion i.e. displaying, rubbing up against her, digging holes in the substrate.

The same female is in fact switching partners (males) depending on who wins the next battle. What generally happens next i.e. does she eventually choose a mate and disregard the other male or is it feasible that she will breed with both?

Cheers.

Except in my case where i have one male with two females and he is alternately spawning with them both!

well they were originally part of apistogramma which spawn using harems. so maybe rams have a tendency for that too (low percentage though?)
