Well...I got another Betta.

I was with my best friend at the fish store, and we were browsing around. We got over to the Betta section, and first thing we see are these 2 Bettas....in 1 bowl. They were fighting with each other, so we rushed to get a fish department employee. He quickly seperated them, then told us that this happens somewhat often there. This store isn't in the best neighborhood, and it seems some teenagers come in and enjoy putting Bettas together and watching them attack each other. However, this is a GREAT fish store, so they are trying to find a way to stop this from happening.

I know you all are wondering about my new Betta...so I'll get with it. One of the ones that was in with the other was GORGEOUS. So, I took him home. I felt a little bad for him too, so he got a nice 5 gallon tank. He is now happily swimming around in his tank.

Anyhoo, here are some pictures of him...they aren't the best, but you can get an idea of his coloring. And cuteness.

He doesn't even look too badly beaten up.

If I were an employee in that store, EVERY single time any kids came into my store I'd be standing cross-armed over by the bettas.

They should put their cups in a glass case or something - if the people who will truly take care of a betta, they will see all they need to see thru the glass and ask an employee to get one out for them.

That's how I'd resolve the issue.

BettaMomma ~ I like your idea! I think they are going to be assigning someone to watch over the Betta section more carefully. They also got some rarer fish in, and they are right across the aisle from the Betta section, so I expect they will be watching those a little closer then usual too.

I would die with a glass case though...I love to look at all sides of them, and see their little faces head on. I guess I could stand there and wait for a while so I could see every angle...but by the time I saw all the Bettas, the store would probably be closing...

It's just not the best neighborhood. That's the problem, as none of my other regular fish stores have this problem. I know the owners too, so they tell me what happens around the store. I also get discounts.

Awww, he does look a little like Starlite. He's gorgeous, by the way, Ravekiss.

I don't know what to name him yet...I was thinking something Americaney, because he has the colors. Maybe Liberty, or Freedom...or something. I'm open to any ideas, though!
