New Corys Seem Sad

Yes, those are crushed shells :(

I don't have a good pH testing kit, but I have one that comes in strips of paper that changes colour. It gives me a colour between 7 and 7.5
I was curious because I thought that shells would raise your pH to the upper end of the pH scale but yours doesn't seem all that high. ???? I thought that might have been your problem with the corys but I guess it wasn't. :)

Even I'm quite surprised that my pH is not over 8, but I have been taking out handfuls of the gravel, and picking out the shells by hand....its hard work, but my parents won't let me change the substrate now :p I also have a diy CO2 system, maybe thats why the pH is controlled to some extent.

Edit: I've mentioned in some other post that I got my corys back from the LFS and they are doing very well now. I'm happy whatever the problem was, its now sorted out.

Hi akudewan :)

I'm glad you got your corys back and that they are doing better now.
