New Cory, Looks Like Metae But Isn't...

C. septentrionalis if no 3rd barbel. - F.

OK. Now you have a better understanding of why I have stopped going to forums and guessing on ID's. lol. Of course, as any Cory expert should know, BOTH of these species have rictal barbels. Fortunately, and with good reason, I have NEVER claimed to be an expert on anything except failed personal relationships and blowing through money, with nothing to show for it.

As those of you that were subscribed to this thread and saw my original post, before incorrectly correcting it, based upon my own personal experience, I am calling this fish as C. simulatus. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I will now head back to my cave and possibly I will stop by, again, in another couple of years, if the good Lord is awillin' and if the creek don't rise.

Cheers. - Frank

Frank, do you have any idea where I can get more simulatus? If the source is not in Canada, I would like to get a source that can import to there. Thanks!
Hi. I do not know of anyone currently keeping this species. They are on the import list but the minimum order is a quarter box (50 fish). Additionally, I don't know anyone currently shipping to Canada, either. Sorry. - Frank

Mmm, but that opens up possibilities! What people in Quebec do regularly, is they set up a 'groupe d'achat', which means they look for likeminded people that are willing to order from a certain shop together (to get free shipping) or even to order the same type of fish so they get bulk prices, like shrimp for 0.50 dollars if they order a 100 etc.

I guess though that your importlist is an US list and that I would have to contact an Canadian importer to see if he carries the same species?

Correct. Personally, I would not be able to ship to Canada. Cheers. - Frank

Mmm, I wonder why it is so difficult for Americans to ship to Canada; their import regulations for fish are very easy. I bring fish myself from Mexico every time in my suitcase. I declare them, and as long as they are not on the 'disease prone' list (some coldwater species mainly) there is no problem at all.

New rules say that import is free for every individual as long as it are no commercial quantities...

I can't speak for anyone else, but the few times I have shipped to Canada it did not go smoothly or well. I only ship to the continental US, these days and only during the temperate months of the year. Not even Alaska or Hawaii. My goal is a stress-free existence. :) Cheers. - Frank

It is only so frustrating for us to visit Aquabid, see all these nice fish and hardly anybody shipping outside the US...
Have you tried contacting Oliver at belowwater.com? He is in Canada and although his Cory selection has grown mundane over the past couple of years. he is importing on a regular basis. - Frank
