Nice timing. I just got here to ask about the mating behaviour of bronze corys. I believe I can look forward to some eggs the coming hours.

Male isn't leaving big fat girlfriend alone. Getting into the T position, rubbing against each other while flying around the tank. They're concentrating on the tank walls. I'm seeing what looks like tiny specs of green algae forming on the rear glass.

Wish I had a separate tank to put the eggs in now :(

All you need is a small 3 gallon tank for the eggs, make sure you heat it and have an airstone going in it too

I now have eggs. The mating continues.

I have no problem getting a small tank. I have a major problem putting it anywhere in the house. And the shed is full, too.

I just witnessed the laying of the eggs. First time I've seen this behaviour occur. I got it on mobile phone video too - although the footage quality won't be great.

Nice seeing nature in the living room.

Hi jmkgreen :)

I've divided the thread you were posting on and made this one for you. Please continue to post about your new additions.

I'd like to see some pictures too, if they came out. :D

There are three mobile phone videos now I've now got on youtube:

1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmUccCc0CV4
2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLB9uQ0zJUQ
3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rl2xpJ9LRYs

The last video is several minutes long. Note although the quality sucks pretty much all elements of the process have been captured. Any new hobbiest who's never seen this behaviour before - well now you know what you're looking for.

In some you can clearly see the female with sack of tiny eggs hung from her abdomen (look for a small white ball) which you see fertilized by the male before she rubs against the glass depositing her young.

Enjoy nature at its finest...
