Hey everyone,
Today I went to my LFS, for Panda Cory's, however I ended up coming home with Skunk Cory's. Anyone ever had these before? They are in my 10 gallon with lots of plants, 3 clay pots and 2 platties.

Can anyone give me some tips about these fish?

Thanks! :D

Ooo, I've never seen Skunk Cories before. I like 'em!

I'm Sure I've got room for a few more Cories somewhere...

Hi Everyone- Thanks for the link inchworm. They are active little guys. And very cute and fun to watch! They make a great addition to my tank.

One question though- My tank is heavily planted with artificial plants (looks real I trick a ton of people ;) )

Should I take out some of them so they have more room?

Also That artical said to feed live foods, In your opinions, since live food is not readily available, do yu think they would prefer frozen or freeze dried? I'd be mre than willing to get some frozen food, I just wanna know what kind would be best!

Thank again! I just want to make sure i giv these little guys everything they need to live a long happy life!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Funny you mention about going for Pandas and getting Skunks instead. Last year, I went to Petco to see what they had in stock. I noticed they had Panda Corys labeled as Skunk Corys.

Needless to say I got 3 of them at $2.49 each... as opposed to the Panda price of $4.99 each.

Gotta love those "knowledgable" Petco employees.

Hi Nina7777 :)

Frozen food is a good substitute for live and much better than the freeze dried ones. They do need other foods too, however.

I give mine shrimp pellets and spirulina discs, which are an algae wafer. Both of these foods sink right to the bottom of the tank.

If your corys have some room to swim freely, you probably don't need to remove any of your plants to make them happy. Just watch them and maybe try taking one or two out to see if it makes a difference.

Hi Jaywings19 :D

You got a good deal there. But I'm surprised at how much they were asking for pandas. I usually see them for around $3.00 each.

awww yes forgot to mention that I was feeding shrimp pellets, meat tablets, and algae wafers. I tried tubifex worms but they didn't like it. I will try some frozen food!

I will leave the plants in and see how it goes. The reason it is so heavily planted, and because i am expecting Platy fry any day now! and i am not going to use another tank or breeder net, just going to let whomever survive survive. I know it sounds mean but my boyfriend will kill me if i get anymore tanks! :p  :grr: :D

Hummmm...............that's only until your new corys are old enough to spawn, right?

Out of all my corys, the skunks have turned out to be one of my favorites! The personalities they have are amazing. The funniest thing about them is that when I feed the corys,I throw a couple of algae wafers and a few shrimp pellets in for the corys, and I feed the angelfish bloodworms ,tubiflex, flakes etc. Well these skunk corys now come all the way up to the top of this 30 gal, high tank and "hover",so they can get the good stuff too! Recently I've seen the pandas, jullii, and others making that long swim.....They are anything but "bottom dwellers" anymore. Love my corys!!!

LOL......funny you mention that, as just last night my boyfriend was saying...i thought you said these little guys were bottom dwellers.
There swimming like crazy all over the tank! But my favorite part is they aren't used to me yet so whenever i go over to the tank they'll be swimming around like crazy but when they see me, they freeze! Its sooo cute seeing them trying not to move a little tiny muscle.......and the best part is they think I don't see them!
