Hi guys,

I'm thinking about getting a new coral or maybe a clam for the bottom of my tank to rest on the sand bed and I wanted some suggestions of you guys for something bright and colourful...

Iv got approx 6-8" diameter of space that I want to fill so I do not want something that grows too big. I have a 150W MH along with 2 x 35W blue tubes above the tank. The tank is quite mature and already has a wide variety of LPS and softies inclusing Bubble, Torch, Hammer, Trumpet, Sun Coral, Frogspawn, Toadstool and many zoo's and zoa's.

All params are fine and all corals are open and healthy.

I was thinking maybe a brain because they come in a wide variety of colours or how about a clam???

Can you please recommend what you think would suit and not require expert level skills to keep...

Any self experience of the corals recommended along with pictures would be ideal, but if not dont hesitate to post comments. All suggestions welcome.

Cheers guys :good:

How tall (top to bottom) is your tank? If it's over 20" your only real clam option for the sand bed would be a Tridacna Derasa. If it's under 20", you could try a mature Tridacna Maxima. And you can put a Tridacna Crocea up in your rockstack if you like. Derasas and Maximas do well in the sand (provided you get enough light for the Maxima) while Crocea's actually prefer to live amongst rockwork.

Either way, brainc orals would do great on the sand

Thanks for that Ski, I'll keep an eye out for both at my LFS and see what I come across.

BTW my tank is 18" high...
