Hello guys :)

I bought myself a convict earlier in the week, believe its a male but not totally sure, Ill try and get a picture but he doesnt seem to like my camera lol

Anyway Ive been doing alot of reading on convicts and trying to set up a perfect environment for the little fella. I didnt want to get a mating pair as I dont want to be overun with convict fry!

Ive got fine gravel for digging, some pebbles spread around and pilled up in a corner, some fake plants and an overturned plantpot, is there anything else Im missing? I also used to have subdued lighting by wrapping electrical tape around the light unit and was wondering whether I should remove it or not? What kind of lighting do convicts prefer?

Thanks for any help :good:

Heres a quick picture, hard to get a picture has he hates the phone lol. Looks a little washed out here because Id just done a water change :)

I don't think you're missing anything. from your picture your tank looks fine. I don't belive there is a set rule, or any rule for that matter, on convict lighting. Btw your cichlid looks like a male (lacks orange belly).

Thanks for the reply :)

Yeah I thought it was male, colour is starting to come through abit better now, he loves cucumber thats for sure lol

Seems to prefer the lighting now Ive taken the tape off the unit :)
