i brought a pure white male * marble * to go with my 1" female, hes 2 and a half " and all they do is wave there tails and flare there gills at each other is this a pairing up or mateing?

this is agression, but this is also part of the " dance " most cichlids will to upon introduction if they want to breed.
my guess, if there male and female, ur gna have alot of convict babies

thats what im hopeing to have lol love convict fry ,
im pretty sure the pink one i brough is a male and i no my normal one is a female,

how can u tell the sexes of pink convicts?

well one way is by the fins, the males have a lot of flare and longer fins, unlike the females.

Pshhh. If the fish has a red belly, its almost always a female.
