OK heres my newest combo, would this work in my 29 gallon, it'a 30 inches long?

2 x Clown Pleco
4 x Cherry Barb
1x Red Tail Black Shark

in my opinion the red tailed black shark gets too big and boistrous for your tank.
why the rtb? the colours or the type of fish i.e. catfish/loach

could go for a small botia, like a chain loach?

I agree that the rtbs would become a little too much for the barbs. The loaches could prob hold their own because they are tanks, but I would worry about the barbs...

Lt's try this combination

2x clown pleco
5x cherry barbs
4x red sword tails
4x guppy

Can I get some more opinions on my newest combo?

yeah don't see a problem with that.
you'll probably find that very quickly you will have a lot more swordtails and guppies than you started with!!!
they tend to breed very quickly!

Yes, I agree guppy population from 4 to 4 million in 6 weeks  Although, I keep my population under control by leaving the babys to the mercy of the tank. I know it's a bit callous, but there is no one in the wild chasin little guppies with a breeding net is there? :hyper:

I don't want any babies so could add something to eat the babies?

Guppies tend to eat their own babies. Some may survive, but not many. Most fish will eat fry in the confines of a tank.

If you want to prevent runaway breeding, thin out any dense cover in the tank. You'd want enough cover for your adult fish to be comfortable, particularly plecos like some cover over their heads, but not thick grass or tiny spaces that fry can get into without being chased by adult fish. No place to hide, and they're easy prey.

Alternately, you can stick to just males for any livebearers to prevent births (Females can still continue to give birth in the absence of males if they mated before you got them). Male livebearers are easy to identify: the anal fin is formed into a tube held close to the body.

I'm not feeling this combo but ya gotta take what works and what ya can get. Say if I somehow got 2 angels or 2 (a pair) Apistogramma cacatuoides do ya think I can safely add the in the tank?

You might see the angels go for the guppies, but it will depend on the angels. Other than that you just have to watch the hight on your tank. Angels will need 18inches of height, as they are tall fish :good:

I think it's a pretty tall tank, it's a standard 29 gallon tank. I'd get them when nthe were small. I'd let the guppies get full grown before I added the angels. So the angels should work?

If say the angels breed would I see any aggression?
