I have found a local fish enthusiast who recently had roughly 40 severum hatch. They are looking to get rid of them, and I was thinking that I could take 4 or so off their hands. I don't currently have a tank to house a fish that grows to this size, so I'm thinking I'm going to start a new setup.

I've read that 55 US G is the minimum size to house severum, seeing that they can reach sizes of up to 10" (although 7-8" is more common). However, I've read that down the line when they reach adult size I'm going to need at least 100G. I'm thinking that if I'm going to do this, financially it makes sense to just get the 100 or 120G tank now. What do you guys think?

I'm thinking a 120G housing 4 severum with some target fish would be good. I've never raised cichlids so this is all new to me.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!! :D

More info: they look to be a cross breed between a gold and a turquoise. I'm going to get a tank next week and should have the fish in 2-3 weeks once the tank is all cycled. I can't wait! If 4 is too much (they're only 3/4" now so I don't think it will be a problem for a while) I'll either get another tank or sell one or two. I'm amped. Thanks for the suggestion frg :D
