I think he's a great looking betta and he'll get even better under your care!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I saw a pic of a tank that had fake pink plants and natural colored gravel.

Ack. Wasn't my tank. I hate fake colored plants,they look like one of those ugly silver xmas trees...Totally not pretty.
