Hello Everybody!

I got my first tank today after years of wanting one!

It was one of those things that I never seemed to have the money for,
or could justify (ie other demands for the few pennies I have... you know how it is!).

Anyways just popping my head in and out of the water here;
I've got a lot to learn before any fish end up in my care -
there's no reason they should suffer for my ignorance so learning's gonna be done!

I have a personal policy with forum boards (fora) and that is I put in as much as I take out.

In other words, I may have to lean on you good people for a spot of advice,
but I shall be reinforcing that learning by helping other newbies when I'm not quite so green around the gills!

So I'm hoping to make your acquaintance, and share the joys of fish keeping.

See you around!

Kevin

Glass tank 2 feet wide x 12 inches deep and 18" high. Fluval 2plus filter and heater.

Funny thing - when I got it there was two lasers in there (but no power supply)
any ideas what that was about?

I did a search on Google under Fish Tank Accessories Laser and got nothing relevant...

Thanks for the welcome and I did mean to say thanks for having such a forum in my intro post (ooops!)

e2a:
I have no idea as to fish yet - but they will be small

I'm using the guide of 1 inch of fish per gallon of water...

e3a:

I'm not using that guide (above) so much having read the newbie stuff...

I'm going to have my head down awhile!

A major thanks to everyone who has contributed -
it's even answered questions I didn't know I had!

;-)

Hi and welcome to TFF :D
It's good to see someone getting to grips with the basics of setting up their tank before stuffing it full of fish :good:
Just don't overload yourself with too much information! Get to know all about cycling [which I'm sure you've already found in the Beginners bit] first and then you've got a good few weeks to wander around the LFS and decide what to stock your tank with!
Any questions.....just ask away.....

Thanks for the welcome, I appreciate it!

Yes, I have been busy with the beginners stuff, and I am now re-reading it.

I really need to say a big thank you to the forum owner and the significant members
who have contributed so fantastically - I do consider myself extremely lucky to have
'stumbled' upon this particular forum. I believe this to be the best there is - genuinely.

I have no questions as yet, but one thing's for sure...I'm glad I didn't rush out and buy
a bag of fish, knowing at the back of my mind the way we used to keep fish in the 70s
wasn't good at all (do you remember, a tiny plastic bowl, and the water was changed
on a Sunday straight from the cold water tap - that makes me shudder now).

Kind regards
Kevin

Unfortunately....I do remember  Win a goldfish from the fair and keep them in ice cream tubs...oh the shame!!!! How bad is this?......If the fish did manage to survive longer than the little tub of food I bought, my mum used to make me feed it biscuit crumbs!!!!!!! We live and learn :good:
