New bettas.

well, we all knew i couldn't hold up for long. i mean, three Bettas can only hold for a little while, and that while has passed.

so, without much further ado, i'd like to introduce my yet nameless Boy!

i walked into Aqua Tropicale (Quebec, South Shore) with my dad, only wanting a pair of Otos to eat my algae. i resolved that if i found a Pharoah, Orange, Pineapple, Black or White Betta, i would buy him, but no other colors!

first thing i see when i enter the fish department, is one very tiny 'AZOO' made tank. somewhat like this. there was an inch of gravel, and 1"x1"x1" of water in the tank, and one curled up Betta. he was shining a nice green over a brownish underlay, with green and yellow and blue finnage. a PHAROAH.

so, i got my five (three to my dad's tank) Otos bagged, along with this boy. he was the most gorgeous of the lot, who were all red and blue and looked very ill. i suppose they picked him out as a display fish, because the guy tried to charge me 7.47 instead of 4.99. but the cashier misread and charged me 3.47 xD

so, my nameless boy has taken up temporary residence beside Crumple on the left edge of the Betta Barracks. we get our new well drilled Tuesday, so water Wednesday, so my boys will be settled by then! =)

Oy, you are addicted--just like the rest of us. I had to quit (1) going into any fish store that I know usually has bettas I like (some stores here only sell the type of bettas I don't want so I'm safe there), and (2) looking at the bettas because there is inevitable one that is either so pretty I can't resist or else is in such dire need of tender loving care that I have to take it home. We've got over a hundred fish so we can't really be bringing home every fish who gives us that "take me home" look. So, we avoid looking and thinking about the bettas in the fish stores. But, it sounds like you may have found a gem there. Take real good care of him--he may need some immediate medical attention but they do recover from store abuse and turn out to be breathtaking fish that have so much personality. Enjoy your find!
