Got a new VT today. He is red with irridescant green fins. Kind of ordinary, but he was the healthiest one there. I felt so bad for two of them, they looked like they had broken backs or something. I REALLY wanted the red CT, but he looked looked like he had some sort of fungus. I am REALLY in the mood for a HEALTHY betta because all I've dealt with this week is illness, and it is frusterating. He is in my spare 1/2 gallon, (NOT a permanent home) just so I can make sure there is nothing wrong with him before I add him to my divided tank. I named him Jenga, just because I was partial to the name :p

Do ytou mean he has a bent back, and where is the fungus and is it fluffy.

The two with the back issues were laying on their sides, trying to 'sit up' but only lifted up the front half of their body. The lower half stayed on the bottom of the cup. And the fungus looked like white fuzz.

thanks!

Just wondering, how long should I quarantine him for? Every single fish at the LFS except for him and a female had something questionable about it. So I decided it was because of the horrid way they treat their fish, and i could bring in a million equally horrid things to Sky's tank.

www.bump.com :p

When he flares it almost looks like his tail is split halfway like a double tail, is this finrot or something else?

My boys are constantly splitting their tails because they flare at the snails in their tanks 24/7. They don't have any fin rot or anything else and are very healthy. I would just keep an eye on him for a week or so to make sure that he doesn't have anything that could spread to your other betta.
