My new betta that I rescued from PetCo is staying at the bottom on the tank and gasping. He is also hiding.

He is in pretty bad shape. I already did a 50% water change. The tank is cycled, filtered, and heated.

@Colin_T, @Byron, @Deanasue, please help!? :(

Post pics and video

No video, as I can’t upload. (Even on YT)

I will get a photo as soon as possible. (Although, nothing seems wrong with him on the outside)

Dim the lights and it will reduce stress

I can’t dim, as it only has one setting. Should I turn the light off for tonight?

Can I see a pic? Water temp and parameters? When did you get it?

Water temp: 78

Parameters: Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 6-8 ppm. pH 7.4 - 7.6

The tank is fully cycled. I will get a picture real soon...

Good news! He has started to move around more.
(Sorry for the terrible pictures, I will try to get better ones tomorrow, with my good camera)

He does look a bit bloated, but he won’t eat anything. He is now hiding behind some plants.

Nothing seems wrong with him on the outside, except for him being bloated. There is also something wrong with one of his fins, but that will have to wait for tomorrow...

Sounds good. He may just be getting adjusted.
Ok, I guess I’m just nervous because he’s new, and I’m a new betta dad, lol.

I’m going to put a rock under the intake, as I say him get sucked up. (His fins)

It wasn’t that bad, but I want to know for sure.

He looks great. Beautiful! Doesn’t even look like a rescue. Don’t feed him tonight if bloated.

I think his spine is bent:

See? Right behind his head, it looks kind of bent... Also, one of his fins (on the bottom, right under his head) is bent and never stays down.

Tell me your thoughts, please... :(
