New Betta...

my wife wants to get a betta and put it into a glass bowl. i dont know much about bettas. what do they need and what needs to be in the tank?

Bettas need just what every other fish needs, a Tank, Heater, Filter, Plants/Caves, Cycled tank

they can live in smaller tanks then most fish can, personally i say 4 gal minimum, obviously bigger will allow some select tankmates

would one be ok in a fish bowl, there probibly wont be a heater or a filter.... do you think it will be ok?

Depends on the bowl size, and if you can do 50% water changes at least every other day, if not daily. You'll also have to find some other way of keeping the temperature at 80F or so.

a small tank with heater/filter would ovbiously be better, but if you can keep the temp up and do daily/bi-daily water changes it should be ok

wow thats alot of work for a fish by itself.... i might just buy a little tank and put him in there... what kind of fish are good companions to a betta?
