Yesterday Nathan and myself went to the local aquarium and bought the above tank for my new male betta when he arrives, do you think its satisfactory? I bought the silver tank and stand.

I am collecting my male Betta on Monday, the small tank wont be matured enough to pop him in so he is going in a trap in the large tank until it matures enough.

How long will I have to wait?
Anything to help speed up the process?
I have added decholrinator(sp?) and Bactozym into the tank.

I actually bought the same tank two weeks ago for my Betta. They're a great tank but I did find that my betta struggled a bit with the current in this little set-up. You may want to look at somehow slowing down the flow rate, it's something I'm looking to do as well but yet to figure out.

Yeah, i saw the current of it on webcam and it was pretty strong. Maybe if there is any chance to position the spray bar towards a side wall? or maybe put the tiniest amount of filter floss in the bit where the water enters the spray bar? thats worked for me on my HOB

If it's possible you could put the filter media (not sure if its a cartridge or a sponge on that tank) in with the filter on your bigger tank for a week. Then put it back in the new tank along with a clean stocking with a cup or two of the substrate from your bigger tank. That would clone the smaller tank, and you would have enough bacteria to add the betta right away. If your new filter media is too big for the filter on your larger tank, you could hang it somewhere near the outflow of the filter.

After a couple of weeks, you could remove the stocking of substrate from the smaller tank, and just keep an eye on your water parameters, but you should be fine. I've done this on several tanks w/no problems so far.

Ive got the same tank is it Aquaone? mine has the UGF with spraybar and my betta is fine with the current. i have got Riccia floating at the top and other plants growing to the surface which helps slow the flow. :hey:

i have the larger 65 litre version of the tank and plants at the top do slow down the current quite a bit.

That's a nice tank. Your betta is going to LOVE you for it!! :D

REMEMBER TO VOTE FOR "SECRET" IN THE BEAUTIFUL BETTA POLL!!!

Correction... Her betta LOVES her for it. Present tense. And her betta is beautiful! ;) hope she can get a picture soon :)
