Mrshouty and I went to the lfs today and look what we brought home!

He's quite active and flare-y! We have named him Apophis. hee hee All bow down before your G'ould overlord! (stargate sg1 reference for those that don't know)

I still can't tell the difference between male plakats and females. Well, I atribute it to the fact that there are no plakats available around here.

Get us another Photo of this area close up i may be wrong but it looks like a female to me.......Looks too long to be a male plakat......but it may be just the photo.....anyone else

the fish plakat usally smaller not as long in the body as i say may be the photo that why just needed a photo of the arrowed area just to see if there is a egg spot........best test

Could you maybe clarify what your saying? I do know there's no egg spot.

some people call it an egg spot some a ovipositor if its a female you can see this and from your pictures we cant, it located just a little more forward from my arrow on the picture is white you cant miss it (well you can ) and if this fish has one its a female, as i said it may just be your photo as plakats tend to be more for a better word shorter in the body and more rounded.....(STUMPY) looking not as long as that fish looks nice fish though it may be he is still young and will look more like a male when he is older A MALE PLAKAT

I thought you'd like him! He's in my bedroom at least til I take the christmas tree down, then I might move him to a table in the living room.
I think in the one picture it's just the gravel showing.

I have a small Plakat and I also have two females (HM genos), which are with me temporarily, and the fish in the pic looks more like the females.

A really nice find though. Great looking fish whether it is a he or a she.

Either way s/he is a very active flare-y fish. And will still be called Apophis, 'cause Apophis couldn't be killed. Well for a very long time anyway.
