I just got a new betta but soince I have no tank... hell have to stay in his petstore cup for a while. :X
Shoulda bought a tank, but canyt afford

anyway: how often should I cnagge the water? Cup is 2" diameter and 2" deep.

In that small a cup, you should change his water twice a day for optimal cleanliness.

If you have even a quart-size bottling jar at home, then you should really put him in something like that or larger. At least until he can get into his new home. It'll be much better and much healthier for him.

Find him as bigger container as posible, somthing like a large empty thoroughly cleaned ice cream box would be much better for him than a 2inch cup- i suggest you buy him a tank though ASAP.
Do you have anything to feed him?
Do you know about dechlorinator and its uses?

holy crap... 2"x2"? That's like... 1 millionth of a gallon(over exagerated). Well, basically, you need to get a tank, a bowl or a jar ASAP. For me, my betta's tank is being used for my zebra danio frys so my betta is living in a nice 1 gallon that I change every day or other day. I do a 75 percent change daily unless the water looks really murky. Then I go for a 100%. Get him out of that little cup as soon as possible. And when you change the water, make sure that you have a water conditioner to get rid of harmfl chemicals like chlorine in the water that could kill the fish. Also, because bottle water says that it's pure, doesn't mean that you should use bottled water. Tap water still has some useful minerals that won't be killed by the dechorinater. Good luck with your fish!
