New Betta Lover, Saying Hello

Hi folks I've been lurking around for a couple of days and thought I'd come out and say hello. I have two bettas (one male, one female) who I absolutely adore. I also have two danios, who keep me company while I am at work. I haven't had many types of fish in my life. I had a betta when I was a kid, but I was too young to remember much about it. But now that I have these two (the Bettas), I think I'm addicted. I love, love, love their spunky attitudes and bold curiosity. I find myself having a hard time resisting the ones I see on Aquabid (or anywhere else, really!)

Anyway, I'll try to take good pics of my two betta-brats and post them later.

Lol... no, I did do some research before I bought them. The male has 2 gallons and the female has 5 gallons. I would like to see if I could get 3 females to get along in the 5 gallon tank. I have provided lots of plants, and several rocks as hiding places. But I haven't decided where (or if) to get more females.

Welcome don't think you'll get 3 in a 5 as most say 4 is the minimum to spread aggression but you could try but be prepared to seperate

to ya, ya you would probably need a 10 gallon tank with alot of cover in the tank so that the females can take cover when or if they get picked on to much. If I'm not mistaken I think 4-6 females are good to keep in the tank and I think you are suppose to add them all at the same time if possible. I wouldn't say I love bettas necessarily but I think it's exciting to have them and learn about the little guys/gals, I have one male at the moment in a 5 gallon heated unfiltered tank. This is a great site and there are a lot of experts here who can give you better info on fish than most books you'd pay money for can give. Everything I've learned has come from this site over the last few years and a few other internet sites that I've found along the way. People here are more than ready to help or chastize you if need be in any area of aquatic interest. Best wishes to ya.

I did read of some successes with 3 girls, so I was hoping if I got two other fairly low-key girlies, it could work. If not, I will absolutely be dividing them. I have to admit, I enjoy watching my single girlie swim around freely in her whole big 5 gallon, so I might not get more... but some of them are so beautiful, it's tempting
