I found a beautiful copper DT at my LFS the other day and couldn't resist... originally I was thinking of breeding with him, but now that I've got him home I think his spine is a little too crooked for that. He'll still have a great life as a pet, though :)
Currently living in my 10 gallon

aww what a cutie! How come everyone else finds such great fish at thier lfs? :p

I am so jelous!!! :p Gosh, my lfs won't even think of ordering DTs for me and here you are just waltzing in and buying one!!! I am so dying for a DT! :D

Is a crooked spine genetic? or could it just be an injury of some sort.

also... how do you keep the sand in your tank clean? I have a tough time already with gravel.

Wow that's a beautiful DT copper you got there . Which of the two pictures is his real colorings?

It could be an injury or the result of being raised in poor water, but my bet is on genetics, since DTs are prone to having crooked spines.

Sand is much easier to clean than gravel, you should try it. Not so hard to vac all the gunk out, since it all just settles on top. Plus, my army of trumpet snails take care of any uneaten food and such.

Both
He looks different in different light. Usually like the 2nd pic, though

I would think that sand particles would be small enough and light enough that they would get sucked up in the gravel vacuum

You know.... you could buy those good bettas from your lfs and sell em to us who are less fortunate :shifty:

He's awesome

You'd think so, but it's actually not the case. The sand is heavy enough to stay down unless you ram the vac down into it... which I have done on accident a couple of times when I wasn't paying attention! I use a Python, so that was a lot of sand in my sink :p

Who wants a pastel rosetail?
I'm dead serious, they have one. Also a nice black and white marble plakat who is Adramelech's bro. He's singletail though. It was tough to choose between the two, let me tell ya!

I was just there today to pick up some bloodworms and he was $18.99. He chewed up his caudal fin a bit though, poor thing
