Hi- I wanted to show y'all a picture of my new Beta- he doesn't have a name yet, but we're working on it. He lives in a one gallon tank with a live plant, and his tank mate, Dory the sucker fish. In 6 months though, Dory's moving out to a much larger tank.

These pictures make the outside of my tank look horribly spotty, don't they?

by sucker fish...what kind of sucker fish?? a catfish? a loach type thing?
phew i just reread and you said he's moving out
6 months is a long time though...lots of growing time!

nice betta, hes rly cute

Sucking Loach are often referred to as 'Algae Eaters' and 'Sucking Loack'. Soon , he will loose interest with Algae, and find other fishes Slime and Eye Balls much more tasty

that's the sucker fish. he's on the plant.

6 months is a long time, but he's only about an inch and a half long, so i'm praying he stays kinda little til we can move him.

Nice betta. :)

Your "sucker fish" appears to be a common pleco. A one gallon tank (especially a one gallon tank being shared with a betta) is not suitable for the pleco. It can grow up to 24 inches and it creates a LOT of waste, which is not good in a 1 gallon. Your plec needs to be in a much, MUCH larger tank, and very soon. What were you planning on moving it to?

The fish won't last six months in a one gallon, even in a ten gallon for six months is pushing it with a common plec. Seriously, they get over 12" long, and they grow really quickly when proper housing is supplied. I'd just take it back until you actually have a tank cycled and ready.

Your betta is very cute though. I think you should just stick with him for now. Welcome to the board,by the way, I hope you stick around!

My friend had a sucker fish in a 5G with a CT betta last year. The CT appeared to loose some of his scales, and than later died. I would move out the Pleco ASAP.

Welcome to the forums, I'm pretty new here too I guess. Nice betta!! I've had some plecos before.
