It was hard to scape this, bearing in mind it will only be half full and the petrified wood is pretty flat, not the best option for a first time iwagumi style.

lighting will be 2 x 11w PCT5
Fluval U3 internal (I can see me swapping this for external pretty quickly  )

Thanks for looking.

A big thankyou to Devin (Hydrophyte) for kindly sending over some riparium equipment to help get this style up and running in the UK.

I think it will look great...Just with the ends of the wood sticking out? I had this on my aquaqube for sometime with dwarf riccia growing in its emerged form on the top of some petrified wood.
Might as well switch to an external/ HOB now me thinks

I always end up doing that.

oh boy here it goes again... :hey:  :fun:

seriously im excited to see another journal
i wish i had the money to try multiple new tanks!!

Yeah, I think it will just be sticking out to combine both areas together.

lol, I wasnt planning on spending as much as I have done, this was originally going to be for turtles, but then my Mum decided against it so I just had to buy a few extras, and i have fancied trying this since I saw one a few months back.

Plants will be anubias, echinodorus, bacopa, and whatever else I see along the way. The beauty of this is you dont have to add all the plants striaght away :D

ill be watching :good:

thanks,

Aaron

My lights come from HK today, and I am pleased with them :)
Shouldnt be much longer before I get some plants in

Thanks, Aaron

Very interesting... :D Have you decided on livestock yet?

Thanks, not sure whether to go with something simple like cardinals or something a bit different.

Depends on what the "bit different" is. :)

Neat, a riparium. In the first photo I got a little scared, the glass looked cracked. But no, it was just the powercords.

Nick said that on UKAPS too lol, i never noticed until he pointed it out!

Sorry for the lack of pictures, but with only one light is was hard to get any, but my replacement came today

FTS, which is pretty hard to do trying to get the correct exposure on the top/ bottom.

You can see the magnetic planter in the top right

The plants wont be staying like that, My next purchase will probably be a peace lily, then I will go and look at some pond plants maybe.

thanks.

That's some Anubias plant! Where did you get it?

So are you planning on growing the Anubias emmersed? It would look really nice like that I think.

sure is! I got it from plantedbox.com (it is a motherplant) and is aquafleur. That is why I go for AF over tropica, much cheaper and just as good quality.

I have introduced 6 cardinal tetras. I thought about glowlights but they aretoo similar colour to the rocks and sand. The cardinals also show up well with the lighting setup.

Strangely there was no pond plants at all, maybe it's out of season or something but they have a massive section for them. Instead I picked up some ludwigia palustris red and fitonia Superba red. (no bacopa) so I may order that online, I poked at hygro aswell but I couldn't remember you listig it so I left it for now.
They are AF plants too but they have been submerged for approx 24hr so I have covered the ludwigia only, the fittonia has really tough leaves and is ok as it is.

As for planting them the fittonia has been poked through the trellis as they are short stumpy stems. With the ludwigia half is in then planted and half is poked through the trellis to see if any performs better. I have potted the anubias and planted it beneath the water as I didn't like it as it was too distracting.

Thanks Aaron

Forgot to say the largest anubias pictured earlier was moved to my big tank becuase it took up to much room

This is looking great Aaron. I like the plant choices so far. Interesting leaf shapes and color contrasts.
