Found a tank full of these little guys in an LFS this afternoon, labelled up as Gold, but me thinks not, lots of red spots all over them, but will see how he colours up, was looking for a gold, so..... :hyper: They all looked like they had taken a beating, either from each other or something else, couldnt tell what the other cichlid was that was in with them, but some decent water will soon clear this chap up.

Hope he/she gets on with my large red spot (harry plopper) or they may be trouble ahead

Here he is:

Taken with a flash on a darkened tank, doesnt show him off very well, but will get some more once he's settled in.

Well Im suprised, they get on, in fact neither the GT or Brasiliensis are taking any notice either!!

More pics,

With Brasiliensis

I don't see the size difference :p . 125 gallon? Well, could yah help me plan my 100 USG for christmas? Hopefully your new baby is a girl and Harry Plopper may pair up later on? Good luck with your set up.

oooo lovely mags, i`d have been tempted too :)

hope your ok xxxx

ps you been on a photography course by any chance

wow nice!! Im just back from LFS and nearly got one my self :p but I resisted once again. Had to give in to my girlfriend and get some blue tetras though (against my better judgment, but she deserved them after the efforts of yesterday)

Hope they keep going good :) have to admit I think I would have been tempted to get an other adult haha ;)

No Shelagh, I just point and shot, its when they move I have a problem

Well, plopper isnt being aggressive, but likes to swim past the little chap (no name as yet) and then swat him with his tail  but is happy to protect him from the other fish, I think he's being playful.

Hey minx is it a Gold or a Red Spot?

And just thought i'd add...remember i thought your Brasiliensis was a girl....looks like its turning into a Male Bahia Red..which is great news :D

Its still quite gold but has lots of red spots, looks like plopper when I 1st got him and look how he turned out!! Id put money on it being a red spot, its funny, they had a whole tank of 'Gold' sevs, which all look red spot to me for £7,99 each, then across the room a tank labelled Red spot severum, with about 7/8 red spots for £19.99, guess which tank I bought mine from

And yeah the Braziliensis is IMO male too, feisty little so and so too.

lovely little sev minxy i had to force myself away from a little gold sev in my lfs the ther day as vinny and my green sev get on so well and with both being male wasnt worth the risk of ending p with a female and breaking up the harmony. cant wait to see pics as the wee fella grows

What a good find. Lucky you. It will be nice too see how he turns out with some good food and clean tank you will have him looking great in no time.

Seymour (as he has been named) is settling in nicely, fins are healing up already, but Ive changed my opinion, he is most definately a gold, with beautiful red fins and red spotted face :D

Looks really good :) It's also good to see a juvi next to a decent grown one , quite a bit of colour difference! You're GT still being behave with the new arrival?

The GT does give chase if the baby wanders too close to his home, but nothing serious - YET!

Looks like a red sev, they always come into the lfs in such poor condition.
